Text: 2 Kings 20: 1-6
When a man can pray, God surely will remember him. The Bible admonishes us to always pray without season. In our bible text, King Hezekiah received news that his death is at hand, on hearing that he prayed to God and God answered his prayer. If a king can decide to pray which led to the addition of 15 years to his answer. You need to pray to learn how to call on God in prayer during hard times but the truth is King Hezekiah reminded God about what he has done for Him. So, to pray a prayer like that, you must have done something for God. One question to ask yourself is “What have you done for God?”.
Always have in mind that you need to do the right things for God to remember you. Another question to ask yourself is “If you were to be in the situation King Hezekiah was, can God spare your life?” Can He spare your life based on your track record of good things that you have done? For whatever you are doing, God is watching you, He knows what you are thinking right now. The scriptures say Hezekiah turned to God, do you know how to turn to God? Can you talk to God? Hezekiah prayed and God answered his prayer. I hope you are not turning to man or other gods. I implore you to change as God is the only one who has all possibilities in His hands, the later verse of that chapter i.e., verses 4-6 tells us how God answered his prayer.
Just like we used to pray, was how Hezekiah prayed to God and God answered. The same prophet who delivered the message to the king was the same person who went to deliver the second word from God. The same happened in the time of the prophet Jonah whom God sent to Nineveh to tell them of the destruction that awaits them due to their ungodly ways and lifestyle. After he delivered the message, he waited for the manifestation of the spoken word but the people turned away from their sins and repented, seeking the face of God, God gave the prophet a second word that shows how God has heard them but the prophet was not pleased with it. I pray that the Lord God will answer our prayer today in Jesus name.
You need to know that our God is righteous, therefore you need to live holy and as well start working for God, there are numerous ways you can work for God either joining one of the departments in the church or contributing to the work of God, ensure you are intentionally building a track record of your work in God’s vineyard. According to Genesis 30: 22, God remembered Rachael because she prayed and she bore a son maybe you are also looking for the fruit of the womb, don’t give up. God is alive and always ready to answer you. God does not cheat anyone. Therefore, learn how to call upon God and He will remember and answer you. May God Almighty remember you?
Don’t just sit down and fold up your hand except if you are comfortable with your situation and with the ways things are going for you but if not, start calling on the name of God. Always know that you are not disturbing God when you are praying and God is not tired of your prayers, don’t be tired of calling on God for one reason or the other. In 1 Chronicles 4: 9-10 Jabez, who was named by his mother due to the sorrowful condition attached to his birth called upon God and the scriptures say God granted unto him what he requested. God is ready to grant your request also. Seek to please God and work for God as well even while you call upon God. Start doing something relevant in your community and to those around you. Share the gospel of Christ with your neighbors who are yet to know God. And if you are yet to know God, you have to accept Him today and make Him the Saviour of your soul and the Lord of your life. I pray that as we are rounding up the month of June, the Lord God will answer you and your blessing will not elude you in Jesus name.
