Text: 1 Samuel 17
We underestimate the act of praise and have become so familiar with the act that we lose the power thereof. Praising God is beyond us shaking our bodies and clapping our hands, we must go back to the genuine act of praise that doesn’t exist in deception but in spirit and truth. Job, a servant of God, whom God was well pleased with Him even during his trials and tribulations caused by the devil, still didn’t stop praising God and that wearied the devil. The act of praise is so powerful to the extent that God gave the Israelites to engage in the days of battle.
In 1 Samuel 17: 37, David was appraising God who delivered him from the hands of the lion and dangerous creatures so that the same God can defend him and deliver him. David went in the might of God not in his strength, when he engaged the weapon of praise, it was so mighty in its functionality that Goliath was down in less than 2 minutes of engagement. Revelation 12: 11 says they overcame by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony. God gave the disciples testimony through their acts of praise.
Our testimony is also another channel of praise, potent enough to win a soul for Christ. When you are a testifier of God’s goodness and mercy, you bring hope alive and faith in the heart of the co-believer looking unto God. As good as testifying is good, we must ensure we are careful and sensitive as some testimony are not perfected but sharing it in a premature state may cause hindrance to the fullness of what God is about to do. Ensure the testimonies shared are completed before being shared. Ensure you do not relent in your act of praise. King Jehoshaphat didn’t go to the battlefield with human-made weapons, but with praise and God fought for them.
In John 11: 41-43, Lazarus who died has been buried for four days before Jesus went there. When He got there no one believed it. Behold, Jesus exalted the name of God, praising God and then calling the dead man to come out. To the glory of God, he came out alive and everybody glorified the name of God. Learn how to praise your creator and be a testifier. David was praising God and dancing before God, and his wife mocked Him, you know the story of how she died barren. Ensure you never stop praising God despite the challenges you are facing and He will surprise you by fighting for you and supplying all your needs even that which you didn’t ask for. In your home, church, and secret place, ensure you do not stop praising God.
